This store is located within two adjoining spaces in the Ace Hotel, a historically registered building. Rather than creating a singular aesthetic between the two spaces, we worked closely with Opening Ceremony to create a heightened sense of contrast between the two sides of the store. The concept divides the store into two distinct environments... masculine vs. feminine, raw vs. finished, warm vs. cool. On the South side the historic ceilings were restored to the as-found condition. To compliment this raw aesthetic the display system is a powder-coated scaffolding within which hangers and shelves can be re-positioned over time. The North side of the store is more finished accommodating refined merchandise such as jewelry, evening wear, and accessories. The two sides of the store are separated by a single volume which houses the fitting rooms, back stock, and mechanical equipment.
